Archaic’s custom French farmhouse dining tables are handcrafted to order in South Carolina using reclaimed vintage lumber. Built in a primitive, old-world style, each table is assembled using traditional joinery—mortise and tenon or wooden pins—without visible modern hardware. We source a variety of aged hardwoods full of natural character: walnut, red and white oak, river birch, cypress, pecky-cypress, heart pine, elm, and butternut. Your table will be built using one or more of these species, depending on availability and desired tone. Expect to see the rich history of the wood—nail holes, saw marks, burn traces, whittlings—preserved in the final piece. The surface is smoothed just enough for everyday use, while retaining the rugged charm of its origins. We use Rubio Monocoat, a food-safe, eco-friendly clear finish that protects without adding artificial color. Each table is made to your specified dimensions.
